Crystals of dry (additionally lyophilized) apitoxin are white, gray-white, cream or yellowish in color.
It has a sharp honey-like smell and a bitter, pungent taste (dry apitoxin should not be inhaled or consumed, this is a highly toxic poison!)

Apitoxin is freeze-dried in our own Bulova 02UV freeze dryers. During the final stages of lyophilization, Apitoxin undergoes cold sterilization with ultraviolet radiation. UV-Irradiation occurs inside the drying chamber of the Bulova 02UV freeze dryer under a full vacuum, Since the drying chamber is a vacuum, completely oxygen-free environment, no dangerous ozone is created during Apitoxin’s ultraviolet irradiation (the O₃ molecule cannot be released without oxygen). Consequently, product oxidation does not occur during UV irradiation. This type of vacuum sterilization is safe for the product!
